Software Metric is an effective method in which the software development organization forecasts and evaluates software development project. It runs through the whole lifecycle of software development, offers the more in-depth discernment of software process and production for the organization and guarantees the organization to make better decision and to go forward to the organization goal.Based on CMMI framework and its spirit, combining GQIM paradigm, an improved software process measurement model GQIM4CMMI is put forward which is more available and customizable. First, we establish organization software process based on organization business goals and characters of organization. According to goals of every sub-process in process model, we refine measurement goals. Second, we define four levels metric construct which are metric goal-armed indicator-derived metric-basis metric and establish indicators modeling based on the metric construct. We detailed describe interpretation and operation about indicators, functions, metric methods and counting rules etc. which assures metric definers formalization. At the end, we find GQIM4CMMI is a practical, can be cut software process metric model by comparing the mature software process metric model.On this basis, the thesis further makes use of the practical projects to start meticulous researches on the metric practical applications. We use GQIM4CMMI model to measure those projects. This process consists of four steps, including the definition of the metric; the operation of the metric; the analysis of data and the improved processes. The whole thesis applies to the practical data of the project, and measures the projects from software quality aspect. It make use of the data charts to analyze and interpret the metric information of the project state, which supply an objective, reliable measurement for the actual development process of the project. The entire analysis process combines the software metric process model GQIM4CMMI with the practical application of projects fully, and it provides a good example for the practical application of the software metric.
