In order to describe heart structure and rehearse heart surgery more conveniently, vivid heart model is needed in medical community. However, heart model software which can show heart visually and provides human operation is hard to get at home currently, so relative research and software development is very necessary. This paper did some research on the modeling and graphics, and proposed the display method of heart model as well as the way to realize the function, and finally software of three-dimensional heart model was accomplished. The method suggested by the paper to build the heart model was firstly setting up the heart model in 3DS Max tool and then analyzing format of heart model's OBJ file which is exported from the tool and getting model data. The final step is to repaint the data by OpenGL and display the heart model in the software. Techniques about geometric transformation in three-dimensional coordinate system, texture mapping, lighting and animation was researched and applied to realize the function of heart model. The difficulties encountered in the realization of heart model were finally solved. The software realized interface between model data files from 3DS Max and C++. With OpenGL a whole heart model with external and internal structure was rebuilt and the model was more vivid with light effect. The model was showed in several modes, such as texture mapping mode, line mode and transparence mode and at the same time the model could be observed from any angel through rotation or zoom. Furthermore this software can realize the simulation of a beating heart. Roaming within the heart from artery into heart cavity to simulate the perspective was also realized. In addition, the software finished scissoring to simulate the heart dissection.
