With the improvement of people's living standard and accumulation of wealth, people's sense of security is also increasing, which promoted the development of home security industry, and home video surveillance systems begin developping. Because traditional network video monitoring systems can not meet the home video monitoring system's requirements in single user, simple wiring, low cost, easy to use and etc, therefore, the traditional video surveillance systems are not suitable to use at home. In response to this situation we designed a home network video monitoring device which is small size, low cost and easy method used in small monitoring place such as at home. Customers will be able to view the video anywhere just only using browser.The paper designed a network transmission system based on the platform of home video surveillance that took ARM9 as the main processor, embedded Boa web server as transmission platform of data, and used B/S model structure, combined various technologies such as video compression technology, video transmission technology and embedded technology and etc.The design of the whole system can be divided into two parts: the hardware design and the software design. The system selected Sumsung Corporation's mainstream ARM9 microprocessor S3C2410A as the main controller of the system, and designed hardware circuits according to requirements of the system, including network interface circuit, storage interface circuit, serial communication interface circuit and etc. The design of software included building of software platform and programming of applications, and software building included configuring and porting Linux, porting files system, configuring and porting Boa web server, and etc. And then programmed of Boa web server and CGI, and eventually realized the relevant functions. In the end, the system was tested.After testing, the module could handle connection requests of clients, and is able to authenticate clients; beside it not only can encapsulate and send H.264 data in RTP/UDP/IP format, but also can play H.264 video.
