With the incensement of population and region, the requirement for public transportation is also improving. The bus has already become the most widespread public vehicle. But the current public traffic information distribution system has many defects. At the bus stop where there are many people, the traffic information is very lacking. For example, the information of line maintenance, traffic condition and travel time prediction cannot be published immediately that can not satisfy the fast city life.This paper analyses the situation of public traffic distribution system both here and abroad, finds out that the electronic bus stop board has many problems such as high operation cost, hard maintenance and bad interactive use. This paper proposes a solution of public traffic information distribution system based on the mixed wireless network with ZigBee and Wi-Fi. This system is made up of the control center, bus stop termination and on-board unit. The control center is in charge of the information distribution and time prediction. This system has played full of the two kinds of wireless network's advantage. ZigBee which is low power consumption, low cost is used to communication between vehicles and bus stops. Wi-Fi which is fit for long distance and mass data transition is used to communication between the control center and bus stop termination. Wi-Fi can transport arrival time, time prediction and monitoring information.This system has proposed a high reliability, low cost and integrated solution for overcome the high operation cost, imperfect content and not immediately distribution problems.
