| As a means of network access, the wireless local area network (WLAN) technology becomes one of new developing directions which unifis the wireless communication and the Internet technology with its frequency band free, network flexibility, easy to migrate and so on merits,.In multitudinous wireless LAN technologies, the wireless LAN based on IEEE802.11 becomes the fastest growing technology and is applied most popularly. How to detect the IEEE802.11 wireless LAN and to dig out insecure factors becomes a key field in the wireless application.Aiming at the need of collection data and the characteristics of wireless communications, a PTF channel sampling strategy with a minimum time is presented, and the simulation result is gained. The methods of wireless network monitor are researched, and the method of capturing packets is realized with both Libpcap and Socket.A common file format that is used to store wireless communications frames is implemented, which is for off-line analysis.According to the security problems of wireless LAN, the corresponding detection methods are proposed in this paper. It is enabled by checking the access point security measures to determine the weak configuration issues. Illegal access points and hosts are detected by comparing with list of legal devices.By using the method of communication with the internal host, the rogue AP is detected. A method of detecting the DoS attack based on beacon frame interval is proposed in the physical layer, and based on statistics of attacking frames frequency, the method of detecting flood DoS attacks that arise at MAC sublayer is presented. This paper deals with the basic principles of wireless LAN, networking monitoring, traffic data capturing, wireless frame decoding and attacks detection, and proposes the basic principle and methods of 802.11 wireless LAN data collection and security detection. The content of this paper is implemented and applied to the project "Portable Wireless Network Analyzer Research and Development" in Computing Center, Shandong Academy of Sciences. |
