With the growing of the relationship between China and Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the cooperation between China and Thailand has been increasing continually. China and Thailand now work more closely. In recently year, more and more students have started learning Chinese. Learning Chinese in different personal background and ages have different Chinese learning motivation. Motivation in language learning is a very complicated psychological phenomenon, and it is also the single most influential factor of human beings. Some people believe that "Motivation is the starting and guiding of our behavior, as well as the strength and durability of our decision".This paper is based on a study of Chinese learning motivation of the public high school students in Thailand. The subjects of the study were the students of the Oriental Knowledge and Language School (OKLS). The methods of the study were the rating scale opinion survey of Chinese learning motivation. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistic on SPSS. This study is divided into the following six chapters:Chapter 1:Introduce the reason and significance of the topic selection.Chapter 2:Introduce the previous studies on Chinese learning motivation and summarize the study of the second language learning motivation.Chapter 3:Introduce Oriental Knowledge and Language School (OKLS) and analyze the currently situation of the Chinese teaching in Bangkok, Thailand.Chapter 4:Analyze the students’Chinese learning motivation on gender, age and environment of the Oriental Knowledge and Language School (OKLS). The data were analyzed using descriptive statistic on SPSS and Independent-Samples T Test. Individual interview was used to observe the students’learning motivation.Chapter 5:This paper puts forward the strategies of Chinese learning motivation for the Oriental Knowledge and Language School (OKLS) students.Chapter 6:Summarize all chapters briefly.The result of the research showed that Chinese learning motivation of theOriental Knowledge and Language School (OKLS) students can be divided into five types:personal development motivation, interest motivation, go abroad motivation, passive motivation, learning situation motivation, and personal development motivation is the highest. In family background, there are significant differences between overseas Chinese students and non-overseas Chinese students in interest motivation and passive motivation. Overseas Chinese students have more interest motivation and passive motivation. In learning background, there are significant differences between the students who has learned Chinese and who never learn Chinese before. The Oriental Knowledge and Language School (OKLS) students’ interest motivation is higher than the public high school students. At the same time, we are based on the learning situation of the Oriental Knowledge and Language School (OKLS), Bangkok, Thailand to suggest teaching strategies on learning motivation.
