With the development of society, left-behind children, vulnerable groups,are in urgent need of the wide attention of social all circles, because their life and psychological problems have become increasingly prominent. As a visual audio-visual record form, television documentary can objectively and truly show living condition panorama of left-behind children.Banshun Village in Menglian County is located in southwest Yunnan Province, bordering Myanmar. Its economic development always lags behind, young people have to go out as migrant workers to make a living, which is the objectivity of the left-behind children’existence. Meanwhile these left-behind children are special in that many villagers are influenced by rampant drug dealing and embark on this road of no return to traffic drug.By shooting these special left-behind children in the village and making into a documentary, so that the audience not only better understand the growth and living conditions of left-behind children in the border minority areas, but also can be more comprehensively understand the living customs and habits of minority village. Further to enrich the image data of left-behind children, particularly in ethnic minority areas.In this paper, the methods and theoretical basis to product left-behind children documentary are written in detail.By comparing and studying domestic and foreign works of the same subject, we attempt to draw their advantages and merits so as to provide a new perspective and experience of the production of left-behind children documentary.
