| This study aims to explore how the state of being left behind influences children’s mental health and how the themes of left-behind children in rural areas are represented via illustrations in the creation of picture books.This paper is mainly based on the research process of the picture book Red Bus at the Entrance of the Village centering on the left-behind children of Pingshan Primary School of Dianjiang,a northeastern county of Chongqing,China.It aims to present the positive side of left-behind children’s life from different perspectives.The difficulty lies in the steering of script theme and design style throughout the picture book creation.The first chapter is the introduction,which mainly lays out the research background,object,content,method,significance,and the current research status at home and abroad.It also expounds on the key points,difficult points,innovative points and framework of the research.The second chapter investigates the status quo of left-behind children in Pingshan Primary School of Dianjiang,Chongqing,which provides a reliable basis for the story script creation of the picture book.The third and fourth chapters explore the artistic language of picture books of leftbehind children,respectively from the artistic expression of picture books and the case studies of excellent picture books of left-behind children’s themes,so as to provide guidance and reference for the later creation of picture books.The last chapter elaborates on the creation process of the picture book Red Bus at the Entrance of the Village,makes a summary of the design and offers some prospect.The innovation of this paper lies in that the contents of the picture book Red Bus at the Entrance of the Village differs from the research on left-behind children in other fields.Its contents demonstrate the positive and true side of the left-behind children in Pingshan Primary School of Dianjiang,Chongqing,and contribute a little to the diversified development of domestic picture book research. |
