| Teaching Chinese Language in Vietnam has a long history. According to historical records, Chinese teaching has begun in Vietnam since the fifth century. Over ten recent years, due to China’s economic development, there is a "Chinese fever" all over the world. At the same time, Vietnam economy has also grown rapidly. China, Taiwan, Singapore and other countries and regions invest a lot into Vietnam, which undoubtedly gives a new vitality to the spread of Chinese language in Vietnam and greatly enhances the demand of leanrning Chinese. Therefore, recently, teaching Chinese in Vietnam has become increasingly popular in language centers.In Vietnam, there are numerous studies about Chinese teaching, such as the research on language elements:Phonetics, Vocabulary, Chinese characters; the Principal Three Dimensions of language teaching (i.e. teacher, teachingmaterial, teaching method) and the reasech on Chinese culture... However, Chinese Teaching Pattern is still a new field. By reading through previous studies, there don’t seem to have any study of Chinese teaching pattern in Vietnam now. Consequently, there is still great significance and worthy to make a study in this field of Chinese. Thus, base on the real situation of teaching Chinese language in Vietnam.The research revolves around the Chinese grammar teaching of intermediate level in UNIVERSITY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES AND HUMANITIES (USSH) located in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. Based on case studies, class observations, questionnaires and interviews, the research analyzes and concludes the teaching pattern about Chinese intermediate grammar in USSH. Moreover, by analyzing teaching tasks, purposes and characteristics, this study systematically discusses the advantages and disadvantages of such teaching pattern. This study provides a meaningful case study for Chinese teaching pattern in Vietnam since it can give some references for improving Chinese teaching level and advancing teaching reform in Vietnam. It is better if the research could attract more attention and arouse more discussions, which could lead to the further research.The thesis is divided into six chapters:Chapter 1:Interprets the significance of the topic as well as research methods and previous studies in this field.Chapter 2:Mainly introduces the research background, including the current situation of Chinese teaching in Vietnam, the profile of USSH and its Chinese faculty, as well as the generalization of Chinese teaching in intermediate level.Chapter 3:Describes the Chinese grammar teaching pattern in intermediate level in the case of USSH. Firstly, it introduces the idea of grammar teaching pattern and the task, purpose as well as the characteristics of grammar teaching in this university. Secondly, it interprets the design for such teaching pattern and its implementation. In the last part, it analyzes the condition for implementing such pattern in USSH.Chapter 4:Illustratestheteaching pattern about Chinese intermediate grammar in USSH by case study.Chapter 5:According to questionnaires and interviews, this section concludes the characteristics of Chinese grammar teaching pattern in USSH and then points out its advantages and limits, by which it proposes some suggestions about Chinese grammar teaching in intermediate level for USSH. |
