In HengKeng Village, a village located in Suichuan County of Jiangxi Province, the natives have the custom of sending mirrors in the wedding. This present study mainly investigated the carriers and procedures of this custom using the method of Field Investigation. The changed and unchanged aspects of this particular custom were discussed over a ritual view of communication proposed by Prof. James Carey. This thesis includes seven chapters.In chapter1, a summary of the main contents and viewpoints of this research was put forward. In chapter2, the basic situation of the HengKeng Village was described. In chapter3, a detailed description of carrier of this custom in different period, especially the mirrors, which was serve as carrier in most cases, was put forward. Additionally, the connection change of the ceremony participants in this custom was discussed. In chapter4and5, the significance of symbol in different period in this custom was studied on the basic of social relations. And the participation motive of the villagers was also studied. In chapter6, the essence of social order in the cultural word of village, namely the nature of communication, was discussed. In chapter7, a summary of the paper was gave. Moreover, a viewpoint that the customs is facing crisis of inheritance was proposed.In recent years, more and more researcher studied the communicate phenomena including ritual form the ritual view of communication perspective. But to the best of our knowledge, no related investigation of this custom of sending mirrors in the wedding has been undertaken. Therefore, it was significant to carry out a systemic investigation on this particular custom.The paper discovered the ritual communication and rule of villagers and showed us a well-ordered rural society.
