Through questionnaire, this paper obtains data of learned appellations and practically used appellations among European and American students. After statistical analysis of the data, it makes analysis of the frequency and bias distribution point of the use of Chinese appellation among European and American students. Survey results show that, from the overall situation, there is a bigger error rate in Chinese social appellations than kinship terms. European and American students, with better Chinese, make fewer errors in Chinese appellations and can select proper appellations according to the situation. From the survey results of application of Chinese kinship terms among European and American students, we can find that mistakes happen mainly in the use of patriarchal kinship terms, and fewer mistakes in clan appellations and generational appellations. From the survey results of application of Chinese social appellations among European and American students, we can find that generalized kinship terms are the main bias distribution points, with the highest error rate, higher than that name appellations, generic appellations, and occupational and duty appellations. The main reason for appellations mistakes among European and American students is the huge difference between English and Chinese appellations systems, which is also closely related to the English and Chinese cultural differences. On this basis, we conducted a questionnaire survey among university foreign language teachers, and students, with teaching experience, whose majors are Professional Foreign Language, and Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages. Based on their experience and teaching experience of the author himself, this paper puts forward objective, practical, and effective teaching strategies for the teaching of Chinese appellations to European and American students, and thus provide important references for the teaching of Chinese appellations.
