Chinese preposition “GEI”,which is an important grammar point,has received attention from many scholars all the time.“GEI” is a verb,and it’s also a preposition.The meaning of the preposition “GEI” is complicated.The writer has found many errors of preposition “GEI”,when teaching Chinese to European and American students.Some students didn’t pay enough attention to their studying,and fossilization was arosen.On the foundation of other scholars,this thesis divided the sentenses of preposition “GEI” into nine patterns.This thesis collects data about European and American students in learning preposition “GEI”,and analyzes their aquisition,errors and the cause of errors.There are seven chapters in this thesis.Chapter one is introduction,which introduces the reason and meaning of choosing the subject,achievements in research.The thesis conludes nine patterns of preposition “GEI”,based on former scholars’ s researches.In chaptert two.It conducts a survy for European and American students based on acquisition of preposition “GEI”.It also investigates condition of basic patterns from European and American students,and analyzes data from this questionnaire.Chapter three is contrastive analysis of “GEI” sentences,which based on part two.It investigates acquisition of S1-S9.Chapter four summarizes the error types,based on the analysis of questionnaire.There are seven types of errors.The errors can be classified as mixed preposition “GEI”,missing of preposition “GEI”,the error of construction,and so on.In chapter five,this thesis makes a summary and analyzes the reasons of errors.In chapter six,This thesis makes several suggestions,about the condition of text books,teachers and teachings.The last chapter introduces the main points and inadequacy.
