The development and education of career maturity has been brought to attention acrossboth the educational practice and the theorical research. A concensus of the existing studiesis that the family environment plays import role in the career maturity development ofchildren and adolescents, while the key factors from the family enviroment is till unknown,let alone its influencing path.The current study measured the score of family cohesion and adaptability, big fivepersonality and career maturity based on a sample of860high school students from7highschool of Dalian. The results showed that:(1) The overall career maturity level of the highschool students was relatively low. Further more, there was significant imbalance acrossdimensions. High school students got more knowledge of the world than that of self. On thedimension of career attitude, there were significant gender and grade differences. The girlsturned out to be more initiative, less money-worshipping, and self-understanding than theboys in high school stage. On the aspect of grade differences, the development of the highschool students’ career maturity showed up and U curve, i.e., declined at the initial andrebounded at last.(2) The family environment affected the career maturity development ofhigh school students. Only the family income of the socio-economic status exertedsignificant independent influence, while the family cohesion and adaptability both exertedsignificant influence.(3) The influence of family cohesion and adaptability, namely familyfunction, on the the career development of high school students were mediated by the bigfive personality.
