Sun fu, Hu yuan and Shi Jie were regarded as "The Three Sages of the Early Song Period " and Sun was considered the leader of them all in the field of Confucian Studies. As a typical representative of Confucian who lived in the Song Dynasty, he had a very in-depth research on spring and Autumn Annals. By comparison with other Confucian classics teachers of his age, he didn’t blindly follow the explanatory style. In his view,"Zun-wang"(revering the king) is the most important point in spring and Autumn Annals. This transform made by Su Fu brings great changes to the study on traditional Confucian classics, which hereby makes a great influence on later generations.Chapter One is a reconstruction of the biography of Sun Fu. His writing was a political ideal sustenance and positive response from the reality. Writing this book In addition to his own ideas, but also was affected by the political environment, culture, education. One other thing to note here is, there are obvious differences between the various versions of this book, a comparative analysis is essential for academic research.Chapter Two tries to analyse of the source of sun’s thought. We may draw the conclusion that his academic style inherited from the other scholars who lived in the mid-tang dynasty.Chapter Three gives us a detailed analysis of Sun Fu’s views about "Zun-wang"(revering the king) and "Rang-yi"(expelling the barbarian), which were distinctly important substance for his theory. We also discusses his views on "Hua-yi"(Chinese-barbarian) relationships.The "Hua" and "Yi" was a cultural concept and Sun had his own idea about interpretation.Finally we come to the conclusion, Sun’s thought was traditionally Confucian in nature, and he urged to restore the Confucian traditions. This was the only way that the Chinese Empire would revive again, and that the self-confidence of the chinese nation would be re-established.
