Clinical Observation Of Tongmai Jiangzhuo Decoction In Treating Carotid Atherosclerosis (Phlegm And Blood Stasis Syndrome)

Purpose: Observation through Tongmaijiangzhuo decoction in treatment of carotid artery atherosclerosis clinical efficacy and safety,for traditional Chinese medicine to provide reliable clinical basis for prevention and treatment of carotid artery atherosclerosis.Methods: 60 patients with carotid artery atherosclerosis were randomly divided into treatment group 30 cases and control group 30 cases. Treatment group was treated by Tongmaijiangzhuo decoction and control group was treated by Atorvastatin Calcium Tablets,both were treated for 12 weeks. Observe the changes of two groups of patients before and after treatment of Chinese medicine symptom scores,blood lipid situation,C-reactive protein levels,common carotid artery intima-media thickness,plaque areas and security Index.Results: 1.Chinese medicine symptom scores and curative effect: Two groups of Chinese medicine symptom scores were significantly reduced,The treatment group is superior to western medicine control group;Two groups of patients after treatment in treatment group total effective rate was 89.66%,the control group total effective rate was 67.86%,between the two groups had a significant difference(P<0.05). 2.Blood lipid situation:Serum TC,TG,LDL- C levels were significantly lowered and HDL- C level increased significantly in each group,there were statistical differences(P<0.01);but showing no significant difference in inter-group comparison(P>0.05). 3.C-reactive protein levels: Both group can reduce their C-reactive protein levels(P<0.01),showing no statistical difference among all groups(P>0.05). 4.Common carotid artery intima-media thickness and plaque areas:Common carotid artery intima-media thickness and plaque areas significantly reduced in both groups(P<0.01),showing no statistical difference between the groups(P>0.05). 5. Security index:One patients in control group because of transaminase lifts out of test,in the two groups were not serious adverse events associated with drugs.Conclusions: Tongmaijiangzhuo decoction can regulate blood lipid,inhibit the inflammatory response,Stop and reverse the pathological process of atherosclerosis.Tongmaijiangzhuo decoction has the same treatment effect with small doses of Atorvastatin Calcium Tablets. It is a safe and effective drug for prevention and treatment of carotid artery atherosclerosis.
