Treatment Of Primary Hypothyroidism With Aromatic Drugs

Purpose: To summarize the academic experience and thoughts of Prof. Gao Tianshu in the treatment of primary hypothyroidism with aromatic herbs. Method: This paper describes the origin and development of aromatic herbs, and the clinical experience of Prof. Gao Tianshu using aromatic herbs on primary hypothyroidism. The review includes the research progress of primary hypothyroidism in both of Traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine. Results: According to Traditional Chinese medicine theory, primary hypothyroidism belongs to consumptive disease.According to Prof. Gao Tianshu’s thoughts, the pathogenesis of the disease is phlegm toxins resulting from splenic deficiency, so Prof. Gao Tianshu emphasize reinforcing the Qi of splenic to relieve the phlegm toxins by using aromatic herbs in the treatment of primary hypothyroidism to improve the clinical efficacy. Conclusion:To summarize the academic experience and thoughts of Prof. Gao Tianshu in the treatment of primary hypothyroidism with aromatic herbs, which may provide some new ideas for the treatment of this disease.
