In the background of the information age, it becomes a high hope for us that how to take the advantage of information technology for the benefit of our office work. Because that will not only make our work more efficiently but also make it more accurately. In the early days of 1980s, the civil aviation industry of China was just taking off, at that time, both the flights and the passengers were much fewer than today's, all the work can be well finished by the traditional office procures. But today, both the passengers and the flights for every single day are multiplied by many times, the traditional office procures can not keep the pace of today's civil aviation industry's development, it's the high time for the civil aviation industry takes the advantage of office automation technology and works on line. With the help of office automation networks, the flow of every day's flights, the instant information of every flight and the documents and files reported to the managers can be well dealt by computers on the office desks. Video net meeting is another practical thing for an airport, because the working sites of airport's departments are relatively scattered. All in all, office on line means working effectively. Attracted by the advantages of the office on line (or the intranet), our department decided to do some experimental work of office on line in our department at first, if it works well, then we will introduce office automation technology to the rest of the whole airport. In this thesis, by taking the office automation solution for airport managing department as an example, I would try to discuss the development of office on line. The solution in the thesis bases on the platform of intranet, and is developed by PHP and MYSQL database system. In the solution or system, on one hand, users visit and share information by internet browser (For instance: MS IE6.0). On the other hand, the system offers specific information and services to a specific user according to his or her access right to the system. Office Automation (OA) can help to fully use information resources, improve productivity, efficiency and quality in works, assist to make decisions, and help to make much better profits. Getting a right OA network solution is one of important objects for all companies to achieve. So a practical OA product or solution would be deeply welcomed by enterprises. This thesis tries to show its readers what is OA and how OA develops in its history. Here in the thesis, I take the office automation network solution of an airport as an example, from the view of project management, to show how to define office automation and how to develop an OA project. The key points of the thesis are showed in the followed paragraphs: The definition of OA, the present and future of OA Office automation (OA) is taking the advantage ofsophisticated and advanced techniques to make better use of information resources, in order to improve productivity, efficiency and working quality, assist to decision-making and make much better profits. Up to the present, office automation has passed through three major stages, that is, from the personal-oriented stage to the network-oriented (internet/intranet) stage; from the stage of storage and process of unstructured basic data or working-flow to the stage of information analysis and knowledge organization, and the trend of office automation technology would be digitalization. The elementary methods in project management In related paragraphs, I will show the induction of the life cycle of software developments and several methods of system development. Meanwhile, I will explain the details of analysis and design for OA projects. All the subjects here are the basic methods for software development and must be learned by developers. The means of system development include: structure, information project and object-oriented. There are three key steps for most cases of informationsystem. Those are analysis, design and programming. Analysis is to find out the information demand or need of specific business actives, that is what to do. Design is defining a system resolution to meet the demand, that is, how to do. Programming is the making, testing and installation of system, that is, do it, according to the plan. There are five stages for the life cycle of software. Those are planning, analysis, design, programming and technology supporting. The main purposes of planning stage are defining the operator domain, making sure the feasibility of the project, making the working schedule, distributing resources and making the budget of the project; The main purposes of the analysis stage are to find out the demand of the business and present the related documents. The main purpose of the design stage is to find out the solution according the demand. The main purposes of programming are making, testing and installation of the system; The main purpose of supporting is making sure the system work well after the first few years of installation.The key features of PHP PHP is a powerful, economical and popular tool for B/S system development.
