Designing Of Arca-CPU-Based Network Computer Development Board

Network Computer, abbreviated as XC, is a kind of network terminal that is especially suitable to high-speed network environment. It often doesn't have any external memory like hard disk, floppy disk or CD-ROM as it acquires most resources from network. The application programs and data it needs are stored in servers. With the rapid development of network, network computer also plays more and more crucial roles in many fields of manufacture and daily life. The designing in this paper is mainly based on ARCA's GT2000.In the first part it shows the significance of thestudy on network computer. In the second part, it analyses the problems of current computer applications and takes network computer as a solution to these problems. In the third part, it gives an introduction to the working principle and modes of network computer, then specifies the software architecture adopted in this design. In the fourth part, by analyzing several typical applications, it indicates the detailed hardware resources of network computer. In the fifth part, according to many factors it chooses GT2000 as the CPU in this design. As GT2000 excellently support many external devices, the designing is mainly centered on it.This design takes PR0TEL99SE as the development platform, on which it is very convenient to design schematics and PCB as well as set specific electronic rules to ensure design' s validity. GT2000 works at very high speed, so it slso optimized PCB according to the special requirement of GT2000.In the last part, it provides the process of boarddebugging. First is the establishment of the software and hardware debugging platform. Then is the debugging process of separate function modules on the board. At Last it provides a testing plan for the whole board.
