English newspaper is an important part of China's newspaper market. Although China's English newspaper is not as powerful as Chinese newspaper and they have weaker influence, they are facing intensive competition and having great development opportunities as well during the process of China's newspaper industry adopting the market principle. Basing on the present development condition, this essay defines the pattern of China's English newspaper market, that is two-way pattern (national----local). And then from respects of audiences, advertisements and competitive intensity, this essay analyses the developing space of China's English newspaper from which we can conclude that there is a huge space for the development of China's English newspaer. However, there are still many obstacles for China's English newspaper's development such as present and potential opponents, the lost of talents, lacking of capitals. This essasy, taking China Daily and Guangzhou Morning Post as research objects, points out development strategies for China's national and local English newspapers respectively.
