Data Acquisition is the basic means that can obtain various information. Data Acquisition is an important branch of the information science. It is a technique of synthetical application, which is based on the technology of the sensor, the technology of signal measurement and processing, computer science, and so on. The remote data acquisition system makes use of the computer and communication technology, measurement and control technology and so on, and can acquire, record and show various physical parameters on the spot. The managers and operators can make decisions by the parameters. Contrast with the traditional data acquisition system, the remote data acquisition system has some merits, such as, little influenced by the geographical environment, the climate, the time, and so on.The core of the system that is discussed in detail in this paper is a module including the network microcontroller— DS80C400, which is produced by the Dallas semi-conductor company. The technique of the bus through which we can get the data is 1-Wire Bus. We can transport the data through the link that is based on PSTN. The protocol be used to make link is PPP. The data that were delivered to the host computer can be shown in the screen, and can be made statistics and control the TINI module to change parameters in the host side. The system includes two parts, hardware and software.DS80C400 is the core of the TINI module. In hardware, this paper discusses the design of the schematic documents and the PCB documents, and some about circuit board. In this paper, the protocol of 1-Wire Bus is introduced in detail. The designs of the 1-Wire network have been stated completely in this paper also.The software development kit is the TINI development kit that is owned by Dallas semi-conductor company. In this paper, the flow charts of software are given, include the host computer's and the TINI module's. Thetwo programs have been finished. All of the programs have been debugged in evaluation board. All of the programs have been wrote in Java language.The design of this system is based on the PSTN network. Because the distribution of the PSTN network is quite extensive, the application of this system can be used in the more wide scope. DS80C400—the core of the TINI module is advanced in the world, so this remote data acquisition system is advanced also.
