Realization Of MPEG4 Encoder Based On BSP-15 Media Processor

Information technology evolution has brought us much convenience, and explosive quantity of data as well. Information, especially video information, becomes extremely large in size when converted to binary data. It is not quite possible to store or transmit those data in common ways and means, and thus becomes major bottleneck of easy information manipulation. Therefore, it is of great meaning to carry on such works as researching higher efficient methods of video coding compression.Currently, it is a hotspot to research for coding compression algorithm with very low bit rates in the field of video coding compression research. In 1998, MPEG(Moving Picture Expert Group) integrated diversified multi-media application into a whole framework, and provided MPEG4 video coding standard that is based on content object and meets the standards of different bit rates. The new generation of high performance media processor, with BSP-15 of Equator Co. as representative, has special structure with VLIW (Very Long Instruction Word) and strong calculation ability. Because the media processor has some strong points such as good stability, abroad applicability, and reduced software and hardware, currently this solution of developing MPEG4 video compression system on media DSP (Digital Signal Processor) attracts more and more attentions.Under the researching and developing background described above, this article has a further research to the video encoding standard, with MPEG4 as representative, and realizes the coding algorithm based on MPEG4 on the general performing platform. And on the ground above, this article improves the motion estimation part of the MPEG4, and provides an improved threshold search method for motion estimation, which has good performance on the speed and quality. As for preprocessing for encoding, which influencing the quality of image, this article provides a method of spatial-temporal motion adaptive filter by Noise Image Modeling. And for more, this article has a further research to the structure of BSP-15 media processor of Equator Co., after considering the BSP-15's characteristics, optimizes the instruction and data-flow of the algorithm in the DCT (Discrete Cosine Transform) and IDCT (Inverse Discrete Cosine Transform Discrete Cosine Transform).
