Sun Yirang is a famous philological and ancient literal scholar in late Qing Dynasty. Yu Yue, Zhang Taiyan and he were named the Three Scholar of late Qing Dynasty. It is a period that the ancient science of Qian-long period demands to inherit and summarize. As the chain from tradition to latter-day, Sun Yirang can hold all merits of several scholarships and combine characters and ancient documents, on which Zha Yi (《札迻》) is a magnum opus.Zha Yi (《札迻》) is the representative works of collation and the elites of collating scripts of Sun Yirang's during thirty years. Seventy-eight ancient books and over one thousand three hundred items of theirs were collated, consisting of interpreting characters, annotating doubtful points, revising mistakes and extending to expound theories of characters and examining systems of institutions, etc.Whereas the study on Zha Yi(《札迻》) is not enough, the paper aims at studying literatures quoted and characters and literatures combined from the point on which theirs proved each other. The following is that Related to the literatures and characters were taken out and analyzed when collating to find out Sun Yirang's methods and thoughts on collation. Thereby, it can be used for reference and exploring in material and ways.
