A Study On The Exploitation Of Ancient Literatures Of Ethnic Minorities In Xinjiang

The emergence of new media fundamentally shakes the dominance of printed publications, whilst owing to the ever-changing Internet technology, mobile terminals are becoming more and more portable and ways of reading have nearly leapt over the paper media to meet the arrival of the paperless era. Ancient literatures of ethnic minorities in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (Xinjiang ethnic ancient literatures for short) feature diverse categories, rich and unique content. On the basis of collection and arrangement work, experts and scholars place more emphasis on ancient literatures of ethnic minorities for deeper study and exploitation, especially the capital construction and function improvement of the data base for ancient literatures of ethnic minorities, relying on the information technology. Compared with traditional ancient books, digitized ancient literatures are more presented in the form of multi-media, which are more convenient to use and discover the correlation to the maximum extent among the ancient literatures. The network environment enables the act of reading to break the constraints of time and to become increasingly open and free. Its interaction enhances the fun of reading and promotes the wide spread of information. There is no doubt that digitization, for ancient literatures of ethnic minorities, will be the one and only approach to adapting to the modern network environment and modern ways of reading.The paper consists of five chapters. First of all, it introduces the meaning and characteristics of the exploration into the ancient literatures of ethnic minorities in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and summarizes its phased achievements made over 30 years. Then, significant issues in the study of ancient literatures are discovered through comparative analysis and questionnaires. Finally, the paper traces far enough to find out the causes of improper exploitation and to propose countermeasures and suggestions.
