In-situ measurement is very important in the survey of geologicalengineering. After decades of development, In-situ measurement alreadyhad a lot of test methods. All of those test methods have developed theirown instruments. But the function of their traditional instrument isalways fixed and monotonous, it can be connected to limited independentequipment, only the factory can define its function, and it can notacquire the data except for its own test. Furthermore, all of theinstruments have their own data form, those data must have beentransforms, if want to be utilized each other on computer. With thedeveloping of new theory and technology, in-situ measurement alsodeveloped its test technique. In order to get more message of rock andsoil layer, the function of in-situ measurement is accordingly upgraded. This exposed the traditional instrument's shortcoming of difficultupgrade. In fact, nearly all of instrument applying trades have met suchquestion, so the concept of virtual instrument is put forward. Thevirtual instrument is one system, which integrates all function modulesof traditional instrument by insert a multi-function data acquisitionboard. The software becomes the key of the virtual instrument. User canchange the virtual instrument's function by revise the software. If weuse the concept of virtual instrument to design the instrument, we cansolve the above problems. The virtual instrument of geological engineering in-situ measurementmainly includes hardware and software. The hardware is a multi-functiondata acquisition board, which is suitable for all of in-situ measurements.I used A/D conversion MAX132, Analog multiplexer MAX399 and 8031 todesign a engineering geology in-situ measurements data acquisitionsystem, which communicates with computer by serial port RS-232.Thissystem can almost complete all of the current data acquisition of in-situmeasurements. The system uses 8031 to control the whole work of the dataacquisition board. The user controls the data acquisition board by thecommunication between the 8031 and computer. The user inputs the orderinto the computer according to his purpose. The computer sends the orderto the 8031 by its serial port. The 8031 controls the data acquisitionboard to complete the data acquisition according to the user's order,...
