China has been stepped into an aging society with undeveloped economy; the number of "empty nest" families is increasing. It becomes the social problem to how to solve home monitoring of empty-nester. The aim of this research is to develop information technologies to transform the home into an intelligent, supportive environment to help elder empty-nester. It will improve the quality of life for elder; On the other hand, it will reduce the pressure of society and children.On the base of analyzing the home monitoring system home and aboard, and considering the cost of the system and the acceptance of the elder, we analyze the elder's daily activity information gathered by the cost effective wireless sensor to build the elder's activity model, which is used to detect abnormal activity. However, people unlike machines, each person have his own unique living environment, routine, and variation in daily activities. The primary technical challenge lies in recognizing the "normal" behavior in each person and reporting the deviations in a meaningful way.
