With the development of microprocessor relay protection, many new relay principles and schemes are got more and more attention, and they are also put into practice step by step. However, when the performance of relay protection devices are improved by these new methods, the higher precision and speed in calculation and more addressing space are required to these relay protection devices, thus the better hardware of these devices are needed. Aiming at these problems, a new scheme of microprocessor relay protection is proposed in this paper, which applies DSP and CPLD to system successfully and joins with platform design idea. The SCM in general relay protection system is replaced by DSP, which improves the calculation ability and processing speed greatly and makes foundation to the complicated program design. The complexity of system interface is reduced by the successful use of CPLD, especially the cooperating use with CPLD and DSP makes the system design more flexible.
