With the development of the Internet Technology and GIS technology, WebGIS has been widely used in most departments. WebGIS has a widely future because of its platform independence, widely inter-operation and low expense in system realization.The evolvement of architecture of GIS from stand-alone PC to network is analyzed in this dissertation, as well as according key technologies. It analyzes the characteristics and application of spatial databases. The application based on MapXtreme and vector data model in Oracle spatial database is discussed. It studies the storage and management of spatial data in Oracle database. And we take the technology of fuzzy query based on string match into reality which associated with attribute information of spatial database in GIS.In this dissertation, the conception, characteristics and significance of Xi'an Traffic Information Management WebGIS System aimed at the real require of real-life traffic is introduced. With the analysis of WebGIS model, it realized the balance of payload and seamlessly connection. Traffic Information Management WebGIS system of Shaanxi province is established with the technology of Thin Client/Fat Server WebGIS model. The System provides dynamic and comprehensible traffic information through analyzing the spatial data and takes the result to the manager in order to make the decision.Shortest path is one of the major problems in the application of GIS. The theory and algorithm of shortest path in GIS is studied in the dissertation. Especially, the traditional Dijkstra algorithm and heuristic search algorithm are discussed as well as their own characteristics and conditions.At the end of the dissertation, the development of WebGIS is reviewed,and it indicates that the balance of payload and seamlessly connection , expand of function are the key factors in the development of WebGIS in the future.
