Multimedia network teaching technique is a new kind of teaching tool and has been changing the traditional teaching mode.Due to its abundant information and vivid form, it has aroused the extensive attentions and interests of teachers and students.It is becoming a new developing direction of the modern education technique. At present, the general method of composing a multimedia network teaching system, such as a voice classroom, is formed by a computer and several digital terminals which were specially made.Because of the nonstandard network terminal device, this kind of system has many disadvantages such as high price, difficult maintenance and inconvenient updating. To solve the problems mentioned above, a new method and a new system to realize the multimedia network teaching are proposed by the paper.It is based on the standard network equipment as well as standard computer fittings and adopts pure software way to establish the system, namely "Standard Multimedia Network Teaching System".The paper analyzed the functional requirement and carried out scheme design of the new system.Characterized by its advantages such as low price, easy maintenance and convenient updating, it is believed that this kind of standard multimedia network teaching system will become the new developing direction of the multimedia education technique. The methods of solving the real-time sending, transmitting, receiving and broadcasting multimedia data are the technological foundation of realizing the multimedia network teaching system.And it is also a technological bottleneck of applying the pure software way to build up the system.The paper researched the real-time transmission technology and method of the video and audio data stream based on the standard network equipment.Then, by utilizing the DirectShow Streaming Media technique, combining the advanced compressing technique MPEG-4, adopting the UDP (User Datagram Protocols) and IP Multicast technique, multimedia processing functions such as audio and video collecting, coding and compressing, network transmitting, encoding and real-time playing are studied and realized on the platform of VC. The research results of the paper established a good foundation for the realization of standard multimedia network teaching system in the future.
