Virtual prototype technology becomes a widely used technique in mechanic manufacturing field. By constructing solid 3-dimenstional model and mechanic model to analyze and evaluate the performance of system, virtual prototype technology provides important referencing parameters for the design and manufacturing of real machine. So this technique shows great theoretical and practical meanings in shorting the developing circle, minimizing cost and increasing quality of mechanic products.By integrating the popularly used system simulating software Pro/Engineer and ADAMS with Mechanical/Pro, an effective simulating analysis of sample machine has been carried out. In this article, the dynamic simulation analysis is discussed for the horizontal part design of national "863" plan project "Grass square pavement robot for storm prevention and sand immobilization". The whole process is descried below:First, the geometrical model of pneumatic working component is constructed. After that, constraining forces are added to model, then the model is converted to ADAMS/Views using interfacing module Mechanical/Pro.Before performing simulation in ADAMS, experimental goals must be set up first. For this experimental, the goals are find out the design parameter, which has the biggest effect on the performance of sample machine. Several different parameter values are selected, as typical positions A, B, C, D in this article.Second, different levels of driving power are performed on different position. Simulating data for different driving power are obtained form ADAMS software. Using these simulating data, the best design for each position are provided. Comparing best designs of each position, the overall best design for the working mechanic are obtained, which frees the designer from complex dynamic and mechanic calculations tg obtains the exact position of each components.In the last part of this article, the reliability of virtual machine is tested using the performance data obtained from real machine.
