With the development of information technology, constructing an opened industrial control network based on Ethernet is a prevalent trend. Fieldbus had brought a revolution in industrial automation field. But different kinds of Fieldbus products can't realize interconnection. And the international standards of Fieldbus could not be carried out quickly. So Ethernet, which is used in office and commercial environment, has gradually entered the industrial control field.In this paper, firstly, analyzing three different kinds of industrial control network——DCS, Fieldbus and industrial Ethernet. Emphatically discussing the feasibilityand necessity of using Ethernet in industrial control field. Then, applying the latest technology to solve the main problem that Ethernet will face in industrial control field, such as the real-time, reliability and security.Based on studying wastewater treatment craftwork and industrial Ethernet, a wastewater treatment control system will be designed. And MATLAB is used to build fuzzy control model to estimate the control system. In this control system, Ethernet is used between PLC and supervisory computers in process control layer. But between PLC and equipment layer, Profibus is still be used.At last, prospecting the foreground of Ethernet in industrial control field.
