Before actuality manufacturing, products need to do whole machine test. It takes much time, money and energy for the complicated big machine equipments, and when the machine is delivered, such as press, it must be trial-assembled first, disassemble to transport after check out, then assemble again at destination. This kind of assembly not only takes time and hard sledding, but can't guarantee the rate of check out in the second assembly. But the collaborative assembly supported by computer provides the convenient means. To trial-assemble under network, many experts can participate in it, the problem coming forth during assembly can be resolved in time, then the success rate of assembly is guaranteed. Manpower and material resources are saved on, production cost is brought down. So collaborative assembly has turn into one of the import contents of CAD technology. At present, the implementation of collaborative assembly still has many technologies need to study further. For example, the planning issue of collaborative assembly task, the synchronization issue during collaborative assembly and the transmit issue of data.In allusion to implementation of collaborative assembly about complicated product, the whole architecture of collaborative assembly system is put forward in the paper, some key technologies of distributing collaboration is the emphasis of study, such as the planning of assembly sequences, multi-modal interaction style and so on. The system prototype is completed, and some application instances are put forward. This paper is one part of "Some Key Technologies and Representative Application Study in Virtual Prototyping ", state 863 programs task and "The Virtual Manufacture Technology of Product under Semantic Web Environment" task, Department of Science and Technology of Shandong Province.The corresponding important innovations in the paper includes:1. Bring forward the architecture modal of distributing multi-user collaborative assembly. It adopts C/S framework, the server answers for transmitting the model data and message, depositing the session information and data. The modeling system and depositing sharing model are placed at the clients. All clients execute synchronously the manipulation of disassembly and assembly, then reach the intent of collaborative assembly.2. In order to support multi-users' collaborative assembly in collaborative environment, it should to decompose the assembly task first to get assembly sequences. For the first time in the paper it puts forward that to apply the break-sets method in the decomposing of complex assembly task, then when the appropriate scale of sub-assembly body is decomposed by certain regulation and method, the assembly sequences is created by using cut-sets method.3. Apply the multi-modal human-computer interaction to virtual assembly, study the natural interaction during the assembly, implement the interaction style of speech, bird and data glove, keyboard and mouse, improve the convenience and high efficiency of the interaction.The work mentioned above still exists many deficiencies. Firstly the message transmitting in the collaborative process needs to further optimized, in order to reduce the non-need data transmission, depress the load of net; Secondly it needs to resolve real time issue, to implement the better synchronization; Lastly the decompounding of assembly task and the arithmetic of sequences also need to further optimized.
