The pressure vessel will produce various defects in the course of making and using, so it is necessary to measure and assess these defects. With the extension service life of the pressure container, the safe problem is more outstanding. In the customary safety inspection of every year, it will accumulate a large number of measuring data. In order to accurately understand the pressure vessel's current situation and in one period in the future, improve the credibility of the pressure vessel's safety assessment work, prevent the emergence of the accident more effectively, we must find a way to efficiently utilize the past year's inspection data, the technology materials, and safety assessment experience accumulated in the past. This subject is important in the industry producing and is worth to research.This paper has researched the defects database of the pressure container in using with defects and evaluated DSS to the above demand. First, the defect database is set up for organized and managed the accumulated history defects data effectively, and for data processing and safety assessment account. It offers data support to analysis of follow-up. On the basis of the database, and according to " the pressure vessel defects assessment norm " (CVDA-84), " Safety Assessment of the Pressure Vessel -95" (SAPV-95) and R6 norm, we can calculate and analysis the defect data, and can make FAD picture of the defect. In evaluating the result of computational analysis, using such many kinds of science knowledge as technology of the computer, management science, fuzzy mathematics, artificial intelligence technology, etc. Synthetically, consider defect counting, material performance, state of using welding performance, thework situation of the pressure vessel, etc. Then make comprehensive appraisal in state of use for pressure vessel.This paper is on the basis of thorough comprehension on vessel defect's safety assessment technology, and on the foundation of the thorough analytical function request, then bring out the project design of the assessment system based on database, including structural design, evaluating function module design, design of database, implementing systematically, etc. The software is on Windows 2000 platform, with VB6.0 writing the application program, SQL SERVER 2000 sets up backstage supporter's database. This system has extensive application prospect and high use value.
