From the beginning to the end, west channel had come through two years and a half. It was the focus; weather its beginning or its ending. As the first national TV channel, which was named with region, from its beginning, west channel caused important effect on west culture and communication. On the one hand, as a communicational medium of nation, it had had influence which can not be replaceable on west regions and achieved good effect on the modernization of west culture; on the other hand, because of its intervention into west communicational market, conflict came into being between west channel and west province TV mediums, the conflict was the important reason for west channel's comedown. Seeing through the west channel and studying its real development tactics are the major reasons of finishing the paper.December 28th 2004, west channel changed the name to "society and law", this gave us a lot of thought. Why did it disappear only in two years and a half? What we can learn from it's disappear? On the other hand, it also gave us some advice: it is hard to run the west TV market, if we can not find our real place or without good methods to run it, we can not have the nuclear power to compete. The west channel or TV must be farsighted; it should focus on the globalization of west culture, not the national completion. The paper consisted of four parts, the part one mainly focalized on the background, reasons and meanings of west channel's beginning; the second part mainly described what west channel had done in the past two and a half years; thethird part analyzed the reason of west channel's comedown; the fourth part explore what west channel can do for its real outlet.
