Design & Realization Of The Workflow Engine Based On J2EE

As the scope of business expanding, relations between corporationsdeepening, the workflow management system (WfMS) has been appliedabroad in corporations from 1990s. It helps the corporation realize itsown business logic, normalize its working process and raise theworking efficiency greatly. Researches on workflow technology andproducts development of it have been developed rapidly as well. Manytechniques have been integrated in WfMS such as documentmanagement system,database,E-mail and Internet service etc. Theworkflow engine is the core of a WfMS . There are many commercialand open source WfMS for today, while most of them get samedisadvantages such as low expansibility, unflexibly combined withbusiness system and atactic interfaces etc. To solve theses problems ,aprototype of workflow engine based on J2EE is presented in this paper.In the paper, first, background of the research is introduced, theactuality of open source and commercial workfolw engine in the world isanalyzed and summarized. The content of the paper as well as thestructure are expatiated. Second, the conceptions and reference model ofworkflow, the present condition and development of the workflowtechnique are researched deeply. Correlative conceptions and theoreticsof workflow are narrated. Third, model and method of modeling ofworkflow are discussed, emphases in criterion of interface 1 of XPDL.Fourth, the realization of workflow model and XPDL parser are designedusing OOA & OOD. Informations in XPDL are read into the engine forrunning by the parser. Fifth, the criterion of WfMC is adopted, importantparts are inherited and expanded from interfaces of the engine baseedon WfMC directly. Every kernel interface is corresponded to a javarealization class. Methods and properties are designed in the realizationclasses and are expanded as well.
