With the development of internet, recently, government and most schools and companies have established their own network system. And these companies'Internet applications became more and more important, supports internet service for our dayly work and life. Except investigate for the internet when it is constructed, companies confront problems of cost of the using internet. According to "Who use, Who pay"principle, establish one's own internet statistic charging system and know every department of the company and user's situation of using internet to collect proper charge for using internet, is helpful for reinforce the management of internet, guarantee using internet properly and efficiently. And how to get the quantity of communication flow and statistic the flow, implement proper charge became important tasks of internet administration department of companies and internet management and exploitation.The presupposition of implement small-size internet charge system is gather the internet flow produced by the charge mainframe, and make analytical statistic according to the charge strategy. Therefore, which mode to use and how to get data coherent with the user quickly and accurately is the key point of implementing the system.This paper suggest using SNMP protocol command read/write route charge relevant MIB value, using the proper user contact IP mode to gather user data according to the characteristic of companies of our country's small-size internet construction.The paper mainly discuss about implementation principle and method of charge information gathering process based on SNMP protocol. At present, there are 2 methods connecting the internet. One is Dial mode Using telephone cable , the other is using specific cable with IP mode.The former mode is mainly used for telecom ISP, but in the high school and company's small-size LAN, using specific cable mode occupy the most.And route is these internet'throst. All the internet flow that pass this district must pass the router. Therefore, router became the place where charge software gather flow data.At present, in small-size LAN internet system. almost all the routers have embeded SNMP protocol. This protocol has prescribed syntax rules between Manager and Agent when they communicate. The equipments support SNMP organize the information that be managed in the form of MIB, so in the MIB, stores many management objects and management parameters. The acquisition of internet flow data is implemented by operating the management objects in MIB.The idea of the system design is: The CiscoMIB can be read by SNMP protocol, charge system is implemented by read MIB library of the router with SNMP protocol.Using SNMP protocol, The management station send Get-Request or Get-Next-Request and can get specified information from the router that support SNMP protocol. Andmanagement Agent use Get-Response to response Get-Request.When gather charge data of the user who has fixed IP address,The router support SNMP protocol perform SNMP management Agent role.Charge data acquisition station perform the SNMP management role. So, in the small-size charge management system, charge data flow information is using the function of the SNMP protocol ,the router itself complement production, calculation and store the charge data.Charge server read information from MIB library that the router has periodically .Get charge diary by read all the inspect node database, And delete the charge information in MIB library, do some necessary management to store in the charge information library, and charge later according the data. Now, ordinary router all has charge function, when internet flow information pass router, the source IP address, target IP address,Packages and number of bytes will be stored in the buffer of the router. And charge software will get these data from router, after analyzed and managed get charge list with all IP address.When implementing SNMP protocol ,mainly use Java language.This is because Java has excellent cross-platform transplant capability .
