Isdn Routers Based On The Snmp Protocol User Accounting System

With the fast development of Computer Networks, there emerges a commonquestion to both ISP and Internet users: how to use the limited network resourcesmore efficiently and effectively. Network Accounting plays an important role as alever in network services, thus promotes users to make use of the networkintentionally, and presents scientific statistics for ISP to compute incomes and makedecisions.This paper focuses on the design and implementation of a user billing system forthe self-developed ISDN router by ISCAS. It proposed the concepts of networkmanagement and SNMP, analyzes the billing requirements of ISDN router, andcreates its own billing-system module based on revision of current systems. In thisthesis, we trace the procedures from the generation, collection, transportation andprocession of billing data, and related technologies such as SNMP and Databases. Italso gives out an introduction to the core testing of the system. The whole paper isorganized as follows:The First Chapter analyzes the current situation of ISDN and our ISDN router, thenecessity and importance of a billing system for it.In Chapter 2, we introduce the mechanisms of SNMP, its main characters andapplication, plus the reasons why we choose to use SNMP in our system.The Third Chapter mainly discusses the frame of the billing system, using moduledesigning method as developing strategy, and making refinement for each individualmodule.Chapter 4 describes the core technologies and solutions in development,including the design of data structure, algorithms, circular queues, mutexes,multithread, etc.In Chapter 5, we concentrate on functional testing methods, and their use on thecore section of the billing system.The paper is closed with a conclusion, and a view of further works to be done inChapter 6.
