Research Of Campus Network Accounting Management Policy And Key Technologies

With the development and popularization of the computer networks,campus networks have been created in most of the universities and colleges in China. Network management is a guarantee of the operation of campus networks. As one of the most important area of network management,accounting management can not only billing the network usage by a person or an organization,but also log and audit the network access in detail,which can be used by performance management,configure management and security management. So it is very important to study and develop the network accounting technology and management policy. Many campus networks have wide bandwith,large throughput,numerous network services,various user types,which make it difficult to design and build the network accounting system.In this thesis,firstly,the advantage and disadvantage of two accounting solution -IP-based accounting and user-based accounting,-were analyzed and an idea of combination of this two solutions was brought out. Secondly,the methods of collecting network usage data from various data sources and the centralized user management based on LDAP protocol were described,while the optimum design of database system and security protection were introduced. Thirdly,the modules of our campus network accounting system were illustrated. Finally,the user management,authentication and authorization using LDAP and some methods of collecting data were described in detail.
