Video coding technology is a key technology in the multimedia signal processing area, and it is well studied in recent years. Along with the development of this technology, it becomes widely used in many fields such as DVD, HDTV, Visible telephone, digital video meeting, video surveillance and so on. To meet the requirements of the video coding technology, there are many international video coding standards, such as MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 & H.264/AVC. These standards(recomments) consist of many key technologies, such as intra-frame coding, inter-frame coding, DCT transform, Zigzag scan, Huffman encode…These technology are described here. AVS standard working group was founded in June, 2002, with the target to brought forward Audio Video Coding Standard (AVS). This standard has many good characteristics, including good performance, low complexity algorithm, low implementation cost, simplified patent warranty and so on. AVS-M is the 6th part of AVS standard, it is mobile oriented. It has many new features and new technologies which makes it very suitbal for mobile application. In the lab, we can use cellphone to download the video file into the phone and plays it on the cellphone. In order to promote the industrialization of the AVS-M technology, SHICT decide to develop a dsp-based AVS-M stream media system. We transfer the AVS-M algorithm onto DM642 DSP and use it to do video encoding task, on the other hand, the server programme inside PC computer can make this as an AVS-M programme server。...
