A Study On The Development Mode Of Digital CATV In China

The digitized transformation of CATV is an important constituent of information construction in China. Its realization needs not only technical support, but also innovation and maturity of the development mode. Stepping into the new environment with digital technology and market economy, Chinese radio and television industry grown out of the long-term planned economic system, displays defects in thought, strategy, technology, system and so on, and directly affects the development of digital CATV industry. This thesis first analyzes the development condition of digital CATV at home and abroad, and then summarizes the laws in the development of digital CATV based on the previous analysis, finally proposes several effective development modes. The thesis mainly consists of four parts: The first part briefly introduces the concept and superiority of digital TV, analyzes the development condition of digital TV in Britain, America, and Japan, and summarizes the propelling force for their success, which mainly comes from three aspects: legal and financial support and the support of the government's policy; scientific industrial chain and commercial mode; and formulation of technical standard. The second part briefly reviews the development course and the present situation of Chinese CATV, and analyzes its influence on the development of digital CATV. Four representative development modes of digital CATV have been chosen with detailed analysis and comparison being made respectively. The Suzhou mode puts emphasis on finding strategic partner; the Shenzhen mode stresses developing the industrial chain of digital CATV; the Qingdao mode takes whole translation promotion and multi-media information service as the focus; the Hangzhou mode originates "broadcast type adding interactive". The third part carries on the elaboration on the four development modes in general, summarizes their common superiority and problems: the formation of the four modes is based on the local material and cultural condition; government's involvement is the formidable power which impels the development of digital TV; the lack of program and backwardness of operation mode are the common problems they are faced with. The fourth part discusses the development mode of Chinese digital CATV from two aspects. The first point is to establish the modern system of government rules and regulations in radio and television industry, and bring to full play the impetus of government rules and regulations to the digital TV through the following specific ways: reform the system of "bureau gathers one" and "the government and business gathers one"; reduce government control, provide guarantee of policy, financial support and user information clothing. The second point is to establish a scientific operation mode from the six aspects: operation platform, technical platform, user research, market promotion, content integration and establishment, and profit mode.
