Research And Implementation Of The Enterprise Data Repository System

The essence of Data Warehouse is integration of a great deal of and all kinds of enterprise data, its main aim is better using the old information, to implement to transform data to information, and to transform information to knowledge, to supply decision support for the enterprise manager. Traditional database technology is different completely from data warehouse, which is deficiency to decision support system. First, the difference of definition and organization of all kinds of source data cause difficult to call the data uniformly and compare to another system. Data warehouse supply the syncretism technology, define and manage the all kinds of and different defined data. Second, the data of database is businesslike and manipulation, while the design of data warehouse is subject-oriented, to transform the data to information by on-lined analyzed processing. At last, the database is to save the current data and not for history trend analyze, while the data warehouse is not only supply the history data but also the current data, and can analyze the history trend.This paper mainly explains the principle and implementation mechanism of EDR system, Enterprise Data Repertory, based on the Data Warehouse project of Hongkong International Terminal and Yantian International Container Terminal. EDR system main function is how to extract, transform, clean and integrate the data based on collecting all kinds of data and information, to save the all kinds of source data to data warehouse after handled by EDR system.The system includes two parts: client and server. The function of client is to monitor the system real-time running status, and to setup system running parameters. The server program is a series of threads running background, and to take charge to connect the source database to target database, and extract the data from source database, reorganize and handle the data based on the requirement of design of data warehouse, save the data to the database of data warehouse. The paper discusses the server-side implementation principle and explains the program code, and relative database structure.The paper also discusses the security mechanism of EDR system and the application of data warehouse in the enterprise.The system contributes on the operation management of terminal, and assignment rational the resource. EDR system supplies all kinds of analytic data for manager.
