The subject that this paper addresses originates from the process of constructing the digital campus. The paper illustrates the development, the current situation and the existing problems of the digital campus. By applying the solution based on web services for the digital campus frame, this paper makes research on the relevant technologies which are used in the establishing of the digital campus and also develops a relevant application system based on these technologies.During the construction of the digital campus, several kinds of technologies are adopted in the paper: the technology of UML based on RUP, the technology of J2EE and web services. The main technologies details in this paper show as following: taking RUP as the systematic software development method and utilizing UML technology to carry out systematic modeling; performing a systematic development that follows strictly to the J2EE architecture and encapsulates main business logics into EJBs; Deploying the applications in the application layer to web services, and registering them into UDDI Registry so as to be called by the clients. This paper chooses Oracle lOg Application Server as J2EE server and SOAP server of the system. The application systems of the digital campus are realized by using EJB in application layer among which the Entity Bean is used in data logic layer and the Session Bean in business layer. Based on web service technology, some applications are deployed to the SOAP server, which make the system to be high efficiency, security, loose coupling and high integration. Conforming to the basic information standard of "Education Management Information Standard" issued by the Education Department, the system realizes the design of the tables and their relations in the core database by using Oracle lOg DataBase as the core database of the system. As well the system constructs the private UDDI register center of the digital campus based on Oracle UDDI Registry, and then registers the web service deployed on SOAP sever into the center.We develop the postgraduate management information system as a module of the digital campus applications. After analyzing the requirements of the postgraduate management information system, some modules such as course management and course selecting system are developed, during which the case models of each moduleare completed by the UML technologies. The business logics are encapsulated as web services, they are registered and deployed step by step, and they wait for call from the clients.Through the research work in this paper, we have developed some applications in digital campus construction, and have made a foundation for further research and development works in the fields of relevant technologies.
