Stimulated by the growth of network-based applications, middleware technologies are taking an increasing importance. One of the most important problems in the development of middleware is the development of communication. Any middleware system relies on a communication layer that allows its different pieces to interoperate. In addition, communication is a function provided by middleware itself to applications. In this thesis, we introduce the middleware communication service, shorted as MCS, which improves software reusability, provides service transparence and network programming APIs. We adopt multiple design patterns and implementation independent of the specific middleware in designing and implementing MCS, to provide high scalability, reliability and availability for the middleware. In addition to the basic network programming APIs, MCS also provides frameworks for common network-based application programming models. This framework abstracts the Client/Server programming model and common communication models, brings out a virtual connection-message framework, which allows clients to invoke services by using different communication model such as request-response model or communication model to adapting to different demands.Lastly, we illustrate the implementation of MCS in OnceTX2.0 and analyze the improvements by using MCS. Also we summarize the contents of the paper, and put forward the following work.
