With the rapid development of requirement for communication service, WDMall-optical network have appeared as the most promising way to next generation transportnetwork. There exists a problem that optical power between channels didn't equal to eachother, and the un-equalization may deteriorate the performance of network, so it is necessaryto equalize the optical power between channels in node. Based on studies of optical power equalization theory in node, a whole design scheme ofWDM module with output power dynamically equalized is confirmed in this paper. Afteranalyzing and comparing many implementation approach of WDM, a design scheme ofWDM was given. At the same time, we did some analyses of key techniques in channelpower equalization. As a key device, Variable optical attenuator was analyzed in detail, including its mathematical model and experiment study for its important characteristics. These studies set up credible foundations for its optimized control. According to requirement of system function, we designed the control circuits ofchannel power equalization. Some devices based on new techniques are used, such as widedynamic range logarithmic converter and miniature DC-DC module, which not onlysimplified the design of circuits but also enhanced the performance and reliability of system. On the basis of hardware design, the whole scheme and module partition of software werepresented, as well as detailed flow charts of each module. In the course of design, weemployed the method of in-circuit programming and in-circuit debug, which greatlyfacilitated the modification and debugging of software, and improved our programmingefficiency. Finally, we tested the finished module, and the test results proved that it's mainperformance meet with the design requirement.
