In this paper, key technologies of Optical Transmission Networks(OTN) based on Wavelength Division Multiplexing(WDM), including the resource assignment of OTN the survivability of OTN the structure and performance of OTN's node, are researched in detail.Then some solutions are presented accordingly. Through maths model,computer simulation and Photonic Transmission Design Suite(PTDS), the solutions are analyzed and discussed. some valuable results are reached.Main work of this paper as follows: 1 The topologies of OTN are discussed, then the physical topologies and the logical topologies are compared. 2 The resource assignment of OTN ,including routing resource and wavelength resource are investigated and analyzed.It is very important for Routing and Wavelength Assignment(RWA) in WDM Optical Transmission Networks. We are faced with how to make full use of limit resources to set up more communicational connections.A new RWA strategy is proposed for dynamic Routing and Wavelength Assignment problem in WDM Optical Transmission Networks. Simulation shows the RWA algorithms perform better than several traditional ones, which can make full use of networks? resources, reduce networks?blocking. 3 The survivability of OTN is very significant.We present a solution of OTN's survivability.The results of computer simulation show this solution can not only satisfy all demands of OTN survivability,but also be very cost-effective.We also employ PTDS to simulate a two-fiber-unidirectional self-healing-ring.The fesibility of such strategy is validated. 4 By use of PTDS, the structure of OTN's nodes,such as OXC,is simulated,and its performance is analyzed.At the end a new structure of OXC-based on arrayed optical cross-connection unit is simulated.The simulative results show it can reduce the OXC's complexity and cost.Furthermore, this OXC's function of cross-connection is fairly flexible.So some new thoughts for OXC's practicability are offered.
