The small target detector in infrared image sequence is one of parts of the Seeker in format ion processor. The detector must has the real --time processing characteristic as well as the high capahility of deal ing with massive data. In the paper ,we discuss the design and implementation of the detector based on the real-time signal processing technology.We choose the small target detection algorithm with direction weight based on Dynamic Programming as the detector' s algorithm . lFirstly we expound the algorithm completely and analyze its character in details. Secondly according to the character of the algorithm , we design the schemes of the detector , including the selection of the architecture , the assignment of the hardware sources to the different tasks and the resolution of the communication modules between two process units. Then we design and optimize the modules in EPGA. At the same time we fiufish the algorithm which realized on DSP At last we test the design by the simulation and debug, which proves that the design meets the requirements of real time small target detection.
