With the rapid development of computer software and hardware technology and other correlative technologies, the visible of information becomes the new field of application development and the scene simulation technology based on Virtual Reality is being increasingly the focus of currently research. This paper presents the development history and application of Virtual Reality technology all over the world, especially on scene simulation technology, according to the real condition of a chemical production device and environment placed, then puts forward a realization method of the 3D scene simulation system for the chemical production device by using MultiGen Creator to create 3D scene models, using VC++ 6.0 as the development platform of the system, using OpenGVS to realize scene driver and function of the system, and using C/S (Client/Server) model based on TCP/IP protocol to interconnect with technologic model system.To realize the scene simulation system, much research and development work has been done on 3D modeling and scene driver program in this thesis.On 3D scene modeling, regulation and anomalistic objects modeling technology, complicated and large scene realistic modeling technology have been practiced, and 3D models database of the production device and environment placed have been realistically completed. In the course of modeling, Level Of Detail( for short, LOD) technology, instance and external reference technology, bounding volume technology and multi-textures technology have been used ,and the hierarchy structure of OpenFlight database has been adjusted and logically organized, so the database has been optimized, and met the real-time and realistic and low-cost of the scene simulation system.Based on the real-time building of Virtual environment, the system realized the following function: 1. several kinds of man-machine interactive roam mode; 2. real-time property information query of objects in virtual environment; 3. real-time simulation logic operation based on technologic flow; 4. realistic simulation several kinds of chemic phenomenon. The system realized three channels scene display based on broadcast network communication, and used C/S (Client/Server) model based on TCP/IP protocol to interconnect with technologic model simulation system.
