Research On Smart Client And The Application In Mobile Devices

Smart client applications are a powerful alternative to thin client applications. They can be designed to combine the benefits of the rich client application and the thin client application. They can provide users with a rich and responsive user interface, the ability to work offline, and a way to take advantage of local hardware and software resources, and then provide users a rich and quick alternatively experience. The Smart Client technology gives new expectation and selections to people in this time that B/S and C/S are arguing to each other.One Smart Client application should have part of or all of the following characters: making the best of the local resource, support offline work, support intelligent installment and updating, using Web Service, and provide client device flexibility. They can be designed to run on a broad spectrum of client devices, including desktop PCs, Tablet PCs, and handheld mobile devices such as Pocket PCs and Smartphones. Applying Smart Client technology to handled smart devices will give these smart devices users a new experience and more convenient service, and then enhance the value and market-competence of the smart devices. There will be a more broad application foreground especially for the mobile e-commerce which is arisen newly.In the first several chapters of this thesis, it mainly discusses the conception of Smart Client, and the key technology needed to implement Smart Client into real application under the .NET Framework environment, and then describes the difficult points of architectural challenges and design issues when we designing and building smart client solutions. Some ideas and methods can be used for reference and be useful to solve theproblems that the Smart Client application faced now. In the last part, it combines one internet shapping system which based Smart Client technology and discusses how to design and build one Smart Client system which based on handled mobile devices (Pocket PC). According to the discussing about this system, it expatiates the characters and advantage of Smart Client technology, and the applications in smart mobile devices, and then gives the technology support and program model to the engineers for the applying Smart Client technology to handled mobile devices.
