The concept of digital earth drives the rapid development of information society, and city information system is going mature. At the same time the demand for information, especially spatial information, is increasing and people expect to enjoy the service anywhere and anytime by a mobile terminal.So it is important to develop a mobile terminal which is based on city spatial information.The goal of this dissertation is to design such a mobile terminal, which is a information system with sampling function and by which people can enjoy city spatial information service. Thus the following work ,which module should be included, how to design each module, and how to minimize it,is studied. After the global architecture is considered, different terminal project, from mobile to vehicle-orient, is proposed for different application environment.During the terminal design, several key technology, such as the new method for serial port expansion with usb chip, the application of bluetooth in terminal, the serial port expansion method according to MCU, is studied.As the location function is concerned ,we research the GPS and the method of how to extract and deal with the GPS data. According to the high demand for location in the application of city spatial information, the difference method completed by software is studied in this dissertation. Refer to communication, GPRS function framework, corresponding AT command and dial into internet process is discussed. And it is realized to communicate between mobile terminal and server.The application software is developed for mobile terminal. We can demand local and remote city spatial information. Information collecting is included in the software. So does simple navigation. It is a multifunctional integrated terminal system for city spatial information.
