The steel output of our country has been laid in the first level list for a long time, but with the comparison of the steel output, our process methods have been lagged at present time. As for the first working procedure in steel coil production -fixed length cutting, there are two kind process equipments in using such as flying cut sets and stopping ones. The production efficiency is high when using flying cut sets, but control systems complexity and the expensive price make it difficult for using in large range. While the stopping cut sets investment is relatively low and its control systems is comparatively simple, the stopping cut sets have been used widely in the steel product corporation.The stopping cut sets in using are mostly old and having low automation, especially low efficiency and large cutting error. Aimed at solving these problems, Shenyang University of Technology systems engineering graduate school researches and develops a kind of control system of 2250mm media and thick steel plate cutting production line. This control system is based on computer and PLC and successfully uses the up to date research results in computer control technology and control theory and combines advanced Siemens hardware production. This control system improves the production quality and efficiency. Compared with the same performance import equipment, this system has low cost and high quality and price ratio. It can meet the needs of renew and reconstruct equipment in the media and small and has huge market value.In this paper we present the equipment and electric structure of the whole transversely sets, introduce the fixed size control system composed by PLC and numeric frequency converser and apply fuzzy control method in position control. In chapter 4 we stress the application of fuzzy adaptive PID controller which combines fuzzy control and PID control technology in cutting line position control system.
