The Research Of MPEG-4 Video Encoder In Embedded System Based On TMS320DM270

With the development of society and techniques, multimedia application has been popularized in people's life. The demands of video are increasing in many aspects. MPEG-4 standard which are set down by the international Motion Picture Experts Group (MPEG) in 1998 has many advantages such as content-based, high performance, general access and so on. As a result, it can apply in many fields, such as real-time multimedia monitoring, digital television, mobile multimedia, video stream on Internet/Intranet etc. My design is the MPEG-4 video encoder based on the TI double-core DSP TMS320DM270.In this paper, first I introduce some image/video compression standard and the meaning of my design. The characteristic and application of MPEG-4 is summarized in the second chapter which the data structure of video encoding and the important algorithm for coding in use are discussed emphatically. Then I introduce the feature of TMS320DM270 DSP, especially the particular advantage for image processing of DSP subsystem. In the forth chapter, the implementation of MPEG-4 SP video encoding on TMS320DM270 are described, and I also introduce the design of software optimization accoding to the special hardware configuration of DSP. At last, the test result of encoder are given.
